I saw Dr. Sonfield Wednesday to get the results of a followup MRI I had on Tuesday morning. It showed that the tumor is completely gone, for which I am truly praising the Lord! All that is left is a little area of scar tissue but it has no cancer cells.
On August 8th Dr. Sonfield will present my case to the McLeod breast cancer committee, a team of a dozen or more oncologists (my oncologist Dr. Bajaj is one of them and my lymphedema therapist Ashley is another), chemotherapy folks, oncology radiologists, cancer care nurses, etc.
They will discuss my case and make recommendations for the next step – whether to remove breast tissue, and whether to remove all the axillary lymph nodes or just some of them. The McLeod usual standard is to remove them all, which could cause much worse lymphedema. I’d rather not have that. I will see him again on August 10th and get their recommendations.
I told Dr. Sonfield I wanted the smallest safest procedure possible.
I reminded him that my prayer partners and I had been speaking to any cancer cells to “shrink, shrivel, die and disappear,” which they now have. He agreed, saying they have just “melted away.”
Praise God with me for this wonderful news, and pray that the committee will have His wisdom and suggest what is right for me, not just what is the usual thing. Thank you for all your prayers – please don’t stop now!
