Sleep mode

“They’re asleep.”

I was singing along as the praise team led us at church yesterday, meditating on the words of the song when the Holy Spirit quietly spoke those words to me.

Who? I said, thinking he meant someone on the platform. They all looked awake.

“The church,” he answered. Physically, mentally and emotionally they’re awake, but spiritually they’re asleep.”

I thought a moment before asking, Does that include me?

“Sometimes.” Please explain, I asked him.

“It’s like your copy machine. The power is on, but it’s in sleep mode.”

I visualized my desk-top copy machine, infrequently used but always turned on. And it’s true. I do have to push a button to wake it up first, before I push the button to make a copy.

The conversation continued. “They’re asleep now, but very soon the church will wake up. They need to wake up now and become aware of what’s going on around them in the world.”

I understood. Something is coming that will forcibly awaken the church. It will take many of them off guard and they won’t be ready. They need to wake up now, in advance, so they can be prepared when it happens.

He meant this message to inform me, not scare me. It was the Holy Spirit’s way of instructing me to start praying the church from “asleep mode” to “on,” alert and ready for what is coming.

I’m praying for myself and the whole body of Christ, in America and everywhere else. Whatever is coming, we need to be spiritually awake and ready, the sooner the better.

Bette’s Journal

Bette Cox 2010

Christ is the "Big C" in my life!

That was told to me by a good friend recently, and it's so very true.

Jesus says in John 10:10, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

I believe Jesus. I hope you do too.

I have one request of other believers reading this journal:

Agree with me that the invader will shrink, shrivel, die and disappear from my body, whatever method the Lord uses to accomplish that.

Thanks in advance.
