Shingles better; fatigue not

The shingles lesions have begun to fade and since starting Valtrex I only need Tylenol 2-3 times a day, no Aleve. Sleep is better too, from 2-3 hours at a time now to about 7 hours or so.

The fatigue seems to have hit a plateau, however, so I’m not 100% back to normal yet. I’m definitely getting plenty of rest but would like more improved energy, strength and stamina. Thursday I sat at the piano and played a couple of songs for myself, but the effort zapped me for a while. Yesterday I couldn’t find the energy to do much more than read and watch old TV shows.

I’m still eating fine, regular meals including a hearty breakfast and snacks in between, even though my diet has definitely changed. Still lost four pounds last week, which was a surprise. I know it takes a lot of energy (calories) to heal, plus chemotherapy interferes with regular digestion. Still, since I need to lose at least 20 more pounds to get down to my target weight, I’m not too worried about it yet. Dr. Bajaj is keeping up with all that.

A couple of miscellaneous items:

I’d had a patch of dry skin on my left cheek for months, just treating it with creams and lotions since the doctor said it wasn’t any form of skin cancer. The week after my first chemo session most of that patch peeled off leaving me with a reddish triangle in its place, and the rest has now peeled off as well. It’s healing up slowly and hopefully will fade to the normal skin color eventually.

My fingernails and remaining few strands of hair are growing at a much faster rate than before. Interesting. Long nails may be pretty, but they interfere with typing (and piano playing) so I have always tried to keep them short. Filing them is getting to be part of my daily routine now.

Bette’s Journal

Bette Cox 2010

Christ is the "Big C" in my life!

That was told to me by a good friend recently, and it's so very true.

Jesus says in John 10:10, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

I believe Jesus. I hope you do too.

I have one request of other believers reading this journal:

Agree with me that the invader will shrink, shrivel, die and disappear from my body, whatever method the Lord uses to accomplish that.

Thanks in advance.
